Cosmostation Cuts Ties with Users as Wallet Service Shuts Down
Cosmostation, a popular non-custodial wallet in the Cosmos (ATOM) ecosystem, will shut down its wallet service on September 1. The company has confirmed that only recovery phrase export and private key export functions will remain available after this date.
This means users can still access their assets as long as they have securely backed up their credentials. Cosmostation advises users to export and store their recovery phrase and private key before the deadline, which can then be imported into any compatible Cosmos ecosystem wallet, such as Keplr or Leap.
The shutdown highlights the importance of self-custody practices, as users who fail to back up their credentials may lose access to their funds permanently. The closure is part of a broader consolidation trend in the crypto wallet space, where smaller services are merging or closing due to operational costs and shifting user preferences.
