Cozy Finance Hit by Second Exploit on Optimism in Under Two Months

Share

A DeFi protocol called Cozy Finance has been exploited on the Optimism blockchain for the second time this year. On Monday, an attacker drained approximately $170,000 from the protocol in just 13 minutes.

The exploit occurred when the attacker transferred funds out of Cozy Finance through a bridge at 05:56 UTC. This follows a similar attack in August 2025, where an attacker took about $427,000 from the same protocol on Optimism.

Cozy Finance provides protection markets that allow users to buy cover against DeFi failures. The protocol now ranks fifth among insurance protocols on DefiLlama, with around $1.3 million in total value locked.

The attacker also prepared well ahead by deploying the attack contract on September 2, five days before the drain. This highlights a potential vulnerability that Cozy Finance and other DeFi protocols may need to address.
