CPI Data Release Could Spark Breakout Move in BTC, ETH, XRP
The upcoming U.S. CPI data release on August 12 at 8:30 a.m. ET could have significant implications for the cryptocurrency market, particularly Bitcoin, Ethereum, and XRP.
With markets expecting July headline inflation to be 3.4%, a softer-than-expected reading could strengthen the case for easier monetary policy and lower Treasury yields, potentially improving liquidity conditions for risk assets.
Bitcoin's recent CPI history has shown sizeable moves in the subsequent week, with a 10.75% weekly rally after the June CPI release and a 7.58% gain following the July CPI report. At press time, BTC is trading near $63,700 inside a $62,000-$66,000 consolidation range.
Ethereum enters the CPI event with a more defined recovery pattern, having formed a double bottom around $1,600 and recovered above $1,800. ETH price is consolidating around $1,890-$1,920, putting the psychologically important $2,000 resistance directly in focus.
XRP is entering the CPI release with the weakest technical structure among the three major assets, trading near $1.02 with RSI around 38. Reclaiming $1.06 followed by the $1.10 resistance zone would improve the structure and expose $1.17-$1.18.
