CPI Report Looms Large Over XRP Markets
XRP traders are bracing for potential volatility in the wake of the upcoming U.S. Consumer Price Index (CPI) report, scheduled to be released this week.
The surge in futures open interest, which has reached its highest level since October, suggests that market participants anticipate significant price swings in XRP following the inflation data release.
According to market data, open interest in XRP futures has risen sharply over the past week, with both long and short positions being accumulated. This lack of consensus among traders about the direction of XRP's price post-CPI is reflected in the options market as well, where implied volatility has ticked upward.
Historically, XRP has shown sensitivity to macroeconomic data releases, but the magnitude of the reaction has varied. In October, when open interest was last at similar levels, XRP saw a double-digit percentage move in the days following the CPI announcement.
