A $70 million movie about Bitcoin's origin story is currently in post-production. The film tells Craig Wright's version of how he became Satoshi Nakamoto, with Casey Affleck playing Wright and Pete Davidson as his financial backer Calvin Ayre.

The production uses artificial intelligence to create sets, a cost-saving measure according to producer Ryan Kavanaugh. However, not everyone is convinced by the movie's portrayal of events.

Mark Karpelès, former chief of Mt. Gox, directed viewers to a website built on court judgments, arguing that the film inverts what judges actually found. In 2024, the High Court of England and Wales ruled against Wright, finding forgery on a grand scale and stating 'Dr. Wright lied to the Court extensively and repeatedly.'

A contempt finding followed in December 2024, with Wright receiving a suspended 12-month sentence after filing a £900 billion claim against Bitcoin developers and companies.
