Financial news outlet CNBC's Mad Money host Jim Cramer has announced plans to sell his Bitcoin holdings due to concerns over quantum computing. He made this statement after IBM Chairman and CEO Arvind Krishna warned of a potential threat to cryptocurrencies in the next three to four years.

Cramer cited Krishna's comments on his show, where he advised viewers to get 'paranoid' about the impact of quantum computing on digital assets. Bitcoin's price has been steadily increasing, rising 1.6% over the past day to trade above $63,500. However, its year-to-date performance is down by 27%, according to data from TradingView.

Cramer's decision has sparked a mixed reaction in the crypto community, with some investors celebrating his remarks as an opportunity to buy. GRIT Trading Academy founder Archie Spencer observed that 'if Cramer is selling, it's time to start buying.' This sentiment echoes the popular 'inverse Cramer' investment philosophy, which aims to capitalize on the opposite of Cramer's investment calls.

Meanwhile, large investors are also selling their Bitcoin holdings as market liquidity dries up. A recent transfer saw a whale wallet offload its entire 16,400 BTC stash, worth around $1 billion, after seven months of inactivity. This move comes on the heels of declining trading activity across leading crypto exchanges, with daily volumes plummeting to $15 billion last week - a 70% drop from January peak levels.

Industry experts are divided over the timeline for a quantum computing breakthrough. Some analysts predict that Bitcoin may face significant threats within the next three to five years, while others believe it will take at least two decades before practical quantum threats emerge.
