Cramer Sells BTC Over Quantum Fears as Markets Remain Unfazed
Jim Cramer has announced that he will be selling all of his Bitcoin holdings due to concerns over quantum computing. He cited comments made by IBM CEO Arvind Krishna, who advised Cramer investors to become 'paranoid' about the risk in three to four years.
Cramer stated that he believes Ethereum may be even more vulnerable to this risk than Bitcoin. However, despite his warning, Bitcoin rose 1.6% on the day of his announcement and has since held steady near $64,000.
Security experts have pointed out that quantum computers powerful enough to crack the elliptic-curve cryptography behind Bitcoin and Ethereum wallets do not yet exist, but the risk is still a valid concern.
