Cramer's Bitcoin Sale Sparks $2,500 Price Rise
Jim Cramer's intention to sell his Bitcoin (BTC) position has led to a $2,500 price rise for the digital asset. On August 2, he announced that he would be selling due to concerns over BTC security in the era of quantum computing, citing an IBM interview as his reasoning.
Cramer stated 'Arvind Krishna knows quantum incredibly… He knows Bitcoin and quantum. And I’m going to sell mine.' This decision was made public when the price was near $63,900, but it didn't affect the price immediately, with Bitcoin falling to lows of $62,250 before rising.
The 'Inverse Cramer' strategy, which involves doing the opposite of what Jim Cramer recommends, has seen a portfolio based on this theory rise 2.49% year-to-date, significantly lower than the benchmark S&P500 stock market index's 12.61% gain.
