Credit-Card Memecoin Buys Sidestep Regulations
Two digital trading applications have been discovered to allow users to purchase memecoins using a credit card, without requiring any additional identification verification or knowledge of cryptocurrency. The discovery was made by The Block, which found that users can use a common media payment code to buy these coins. This ease of access could potentially boost crypto adoption and demand for memecoins, but it also raises significant concerns about Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance.
The market capitalization of cryptocurrencies has surpassed $2.70 trillion, with a 24-hour spot volume of $33.97 billion. However, this development could lead to regulatory scrutiny and impact the compliance of centralized exchanges (CEX) and decentralized exchanges (DEX).
