Cronos Crashes Below $0.053 Support After Trump Media Partnership Collapse
Cronos (CRO) has taken a significant hit following the collapse of its partnership with Trump Media, which was announced in August 2025. The deal, worth $6.42 billion, included a $1 billion investment in CRO tokens and a $5 billion credit facility.
Interim CEO Kevin McGurn stated that the CRO Strategy venture has been terminated, highlighting the challenges faced by crypto treasury strategies, particularly those built around less-liquid altcoins like CRO.
Cronos' market capitalization is smaller compared to Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH), making it more difficult to execute a large-scale treasury strategy. The severe bear market conditions since October 2025 have also taken their toll on the token, which has been down 13.8% over the past week.
The price surge following Crypto.com's $400 million strategic investment from Citadel Securities in July was short-lived, and CRO is now trading below its support zone of $0.053. The CMF and A/D indicators are firmly bearish, indicating strong capital outflows.
