Cronos Network Resumes Operations After $74M Tectonic Exploit
Cronos Network resumed normal operations on August 31 after shutting down to mitigate a significant exploit on lending protocol Tectonic. The attack drained approximately $74 million from Tectonic, but only around $6 million was successfully bridged to Ethereum before the network was paused.
The Cronos team halted the chain at block number 90,896,189 and restored it to its state before the attack occurred. Validators then resumed normal block production once the fix was in place.
Crypto.com co-founder Kris stated that the Crypto.com app and exchange remained unaffected throughout the incident, with all user funds on the platform remaining safe.
The Cronos team warned node operators and users to restart their systems using the latest mainnet snapshot, version 1.7.8, released at 09:52 UTC on August 31.
