Cronos, the native cryptocurrency of Crypto.com's decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem, has taken a hit after news broke that Trump Media is backing out of its treasury plans with Crypto.com.

The token, currently trading at $0.046799, has dropped by 14.04% over the past week and 7.08% today, according to CoinMarketCap data.

This move was triggered by a report that Trump Media is pulling back from its Cronos treasury plans due to a change in leadership focus towards Truth Social and a pending fusion-energy merger.

The loss of this bullish narrative removes a key demand source the market had priced in, explaining the sharp decline and increased trading volume as positions get unwound.
