CRV Price Surge Attributed to Short Squeeze, But Technicals Signal Exhaustion
CRV, the governance token of Curve Finance, has seen a significant price surge in recent sessions. The token detonated by 14% in a single session, a move that is being attributed to a short squeeze rather than organic accumulation.
The derivatives data suggests that leveraged shorts got absolutely obliterated during this time, with CRV clawing from $0.30 to $0.36 and now sitting at $0.35. The token has also broken above every major moving average on the board, creating a bullish structure.
However, despite this technical clean-up, the exhaustion of the internals is evident. The MACD histogram has flatlined to zero, and the stochastic indicator is in overbought territory above 90. Additionally, the RSI at 68 is leaning against the 70 threshold that historically triggers profit-taking.
According to the source, there are two possible scenarios for CRV's forward price path: a bull case with a 60% probability and a bear case with a 40% probability. The bull case predicts a consolidation between $0.32 and $0.36 before a potential break above $0.38, targeting $0.50 in the September-October timeframe.
