CRV Soars 75% on Governance, Tokenomics, DeFi Rotation
The Curve DAO Token (CRV) has surged 75% in August, driven by a combination of governance, tokenomics, and DeFi. A key factor was the appointment of yRisk as the new risk provider for crvUSD and Llamalend, which was approved on September 2 via Proposal 1492.
The move is significant because it involves a 12-month engagement funded with 125,000 frxUSD and 568,181 CRV, equating to roughly a $250,000 annual budget. The overwhelmingly positive on-chain vote, with about 621.2 million veCRV in favor and 5.33 veCRV against, underscores the community's support for this change.
Another factor contributing to the surge is the reduction in CRV's annual emissions, which have dropped from around 163 million in 2023/2024 to below 100 million per year. This decline in emissions has been framed as part of a bullish thesis for CRV, suggesting it could be one of the more interesting turnaround plays.
