Crypto-Backed PAC Cuts Media Spend in Massachusetts Primary

Share

A crypto-backed political action committee (PAC) linked to Fairshake has reduced its media spending in support of U.S. Representative Jake Auchincloss's reelection campaign by $189,000 ahead of Tuesday's Massachusetts primary.

The Protect Progress PAC's spending on media in the state's 4th congressional district was aimed at backing Auchincloss against Democratic challenger Jason Poulos, who accused the incumbent of being influenced by the crypto industry and criticized the PAC's efforts as potential election interference.

Poulos alleged that Auchincloss accepted $77,500 from 'crypto-industry sources' since 2020, which he linked to the congressman's votes on crypto legislation. The Democratic challenger also accused Fairshake of producing 'AI-generated slop mailers' in support of Auchincloss.
