Crypto Bill Could Turbocharge Trump's Corruption, Experts Warn
As Congress returns to Washington after a summer recess, senators are set to tackle cryptocurrency regulations. The bill aims to provide a favorable regulatory environment for the industry, which has spent $245 million on elections this cycle and an additional $206 million so far in the current election season.
The legislation would need seven Democratic votes to advance, and it's not clear if they will get them. Some experts warn that the bill could 'supercharge' Trump's crypto corruption, rather than limiting it.
Trump has made $1.4 billion from family cryptocurrency schemes in the past year, including selling a worthless TRUMP memecoin and operating a crypto exchange funded by the UAE's national security adviser, known as the 'spy sheikh.'
