Crypto Billionaires Bankroll Reform with £72 Million Double Donations
Reform UK has received two major donations from cryptocurrency billionaires, totaling £72 million. Thai-based businessman Christopher Harborne donated £36 million on Saturday, matching a similar donation made by Ben Delo, another billionaire and Reform supporter, on Friday.
In an article published in the Daily Telegraph, Harborne described his donation as 'a philanthropic gift to our country,' intended to help Reform prepare for government. He stated that he was inspired to match Delo's donation due to a competitive spirit, hoping others may follow suit.
The donations come amid scrutiny of Reform's finances, including the launch of a criminal investigation into allegations it breached rules on political donations. The party has denied any wrongdoing and pledged to co-operate with the probe.
