Crypto Billionaires Donate £72 Million to UK Far-Right Party Reform
Reform UK has received its second £36 million donation from a cryptocurrency billionaire in two days. Thai-based businessman Christopher Harborne made the donation, matching the previous day's gift of £36 million by Ben Delo.
Harborne wrote in the Daily Telegraph that the donation was 'a philanthropic gift to our country' intended to help Reform prepare for government. He also stated that the UK needed a 'profitable and dynamic economy' to address three existential threats: nuclear war, artificial intelligence (AI), and climate change.
The donations come as Reform is facing scrutiny over its finances, including an investigation into allegations of breaching rules on political donations. Despite this, Harborne remains confident in the party's prospects, stating 'I hope others may join us' in matching his donation.
