Crypto Billionaires Donate £72m to Reform UK Ahead of Election
Reform UK has received a major boost to its finances with two separate donations of £36 million from crypto billionaires. The donations come just hours apart, with Ben Delo and Christopher Harborne giving the same amount to the party.
Harborne, who is also Reform's largest donor after previous donations totalling £9 million in August last year, said his donation was a 'philanthropic gift' intended to help the party prepare for government. He claimed that while Delo had planned to make a record donation of £36 million, his competitive spirit inspired him to match it.
The combined donations mean Reform UK will now be able to fight the next general election on a more even playing field, according to Nigel Farage. The party has faced scrutiny over its finances this summer, including an ongoing criminal investigation into allegations it breached rules on political donations.
Farage praised both donors, saying they know that Reform is the only party capable of turning the country around and winning the next general election. He also thanked them for their generosity in allowing the party to compete with its opponents more effectively.
