Crypto Billionaires Fuel Farage's Reform UK with Record-Breaking Donations
Two cryptocurrency billionaires have donated a combined £72 million to Reform UK, the British right-wing party led by Nigel Farage. Ben Delo and Christopher Harborne each gave £36 million within a single 24-hour window, setting a new record for individual donations to a UK political party.
Delo, co-founder of BitMEX, donated £36 million on Friday, followed by Harborne, an investor in Tether and Bitfinex, who matched the donation the next day. The two gifts make up 76% of Reform's reported donations in the first quarter of 2026, excluding public funds.
The donors expect no return for their contributions, with Delo stating it is to ensure a 'fair fight' at the polls. Harborne has previously donated £9 million to the party and further contributions in early 2026. This comes as Farage faces scrutiny over his party's crypto-linked funding and a proposed ban on political donations made in cryptocurrency.
