Crypto-Billionaires Fuel Reform UK with Record £72m Donations

Reform UK has received two massive donations from crypto-billionaires Christopher Harborne and Ben Delo, totaling £72 million. This is the largest donation in British political history, equivalent to three-quarters of the money spent at the 2024 general election by all parties combined.

The party claims that both donors want 'nothing' in exchange for their gifts, ruling out any potential favors such as knighthoods or government contracts. Reform UK's leader, Nigel Farage, said the money will be used to fund a top-notch research and policy department and recruit talented individuals from various fields.

These donations have raised concerns about the influence of wealthy donors on British politics. Labour MP Stella Creasy has called for a cap on political donations, citing the need to protect democracy. Transparency International UK's Duncan Hames also backs the idea of a donation cap, stating that the £72 million gift makes an 'irrefutable case' for it.
