Crypto Billionaires Fuel Reform UK's Financial Firepower

Share

Reform UK has received a significant funding boost from two cryptocurrency billionaires. Ben Delo, co-founder of BitMEX, donated £36 million to the party, which was then matched by Tether investor Christopher Harborne.

The combined donations totalled £72 million and were made over two days. This is one of the largest funding boosts for Reform UK and highlights the growing influence of crypto wealth in British politics.

Delo stated that his donation was intended to create a 'level playing field', suggesting that he wants to equalize the financial resources available to different political parties.

The donations have raised concerns about the transparency and regulation of party funding. Parliament is considering new rules that would ban cryptocurrency donations and introduce an annual limit on contributions of £100,000.
