Crypto Chatter Hits Fearful Levels Amid Stagnant Markets
Negative chatter about cryptocurrency has surged across various online channels, including X, Reddit, and Telegram. According to Santiment Intelligence, the use of terms like 'dead', 'dying', 'over', 'ended', and 'finished' has increased. This rise in negative language coincides with Bitcoin trading slightly above $63,000 after months of weak activity.
Santiment views this as a measure of frustration among retail traders, rather than proof that the market has failed. The analytics firm describes the growing 'crypto is dead' chatter as fear language, which often appears when prices move sideways and traders lose patience with the market.
'This is fear language,' Santiment said. 'It usually appears when retail patience is breaking, prices feel stuck, and traders start treating temporary weakness like permanent failure.'
Bitcoin has been trading between $60,000 and $66,000 since June, with its range narrowing further to roughly $62,000, $65,000 since July. This reduced trading opportunities for short-term investors.
