Crypto Consolidation Reaches Record High
Crypto markets are entering their longest consolidation phase yet, according to ARK Invest analyst Lorenzo Valente. He points out that investor selectivity and a shift in where application revenues flow have led to this concentration.
Valente estimates that Hyperliquid and Pump.fun account for about 67% of total crypto application revenue. Adding Ethena brings the top three's combined share to nearly 80%, a record-high concentration.
This trend is driving industry shakeout, with more mergers and acquisitions, shutdowns, and restructuring expected. Recent exchange closures reinforce this theme, with BitMEX shutting down in September and BitMart announcing its own wind-down plan.
Valente expects the consolidation to continue, possibly leading to a cleaner market structure that improves resilience and investor confidence. However, the transition may be disruptive for teams that don't survive the competitive narrowing.
