Crypto ETP Assets Surge 27% in August Amid Strong US Demand
Fineqia International Inc's (CSE:FNQ) senior associate Matteo Greco said investors 'stopped waiting' for confirmation as crypto exchange-traded products (ETPs) saw a significant rebound in August.
Greco pointed out that the assets under management of ETPs jumped 27% in August, surpassing the wider cryptocurrency market's 21% rise. This growth was driven by both rising prices and renewed inflows, with particularly strong US demand late in the month.
The main driver of this increase was US spot Bitcoin ETFs, which attracted around $1.6 billion of inflows over four days in the final week of August. Ethereum ETPs also rose 43%, but Greco characterized this as a 'catch-up trade' rather than evidence of shifting demand away from Bitcoin.
Greco noted that despite the growth, Bitcoin and Ethereum still account for more than 92% of overall crypto ETP assets under management, suggesting that the trend is 'structural broadening rather than a structural change.'
