Crypto Fear Index Surges Past Pre-Crash Levels Amid Market Sentiment Shift
The Crypto Fear and Greed Index has reached its highest level since before the 2025 market crash, according to Bitget.
The index, which measures investor sentiment in the cryptocurrency markets, rose to 74 on Tuesday, moving into the 'greed' zone. This marks a significant recovery from August 12th, when it was at 27 and in the 'fear' zone.
The shift in market sentiment has also been reflected in the price performance of crypto assets. Bitcoin quickly approached $80,000 after trading below $68,000 last week, while some major cryptocurrencies saw increases of up to 70%.
Meme tokens have particularly stood out in the altcoin market, with Thinking Cat rising 131%, Cash Cat 113%, and Dogecoin nearly doubling in value. Analysts view the shift towards small-cap tokens as a sign of strong risk appetite, but also warn that this could lead to market overheating.
