Crypto Firms Pressure Senate for Clarity Act Vote Before Recess
More than 200 crypto companies and industry groups are urging the US Senate to hold a floor vote on the CLARITY Act before the August recess. The letter, addressed to Senate Majority Leader John Thune and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, was sent by these firms on June 8.
The signatories include Stand With Crypto, the Blockchain Association, The Digital Chamber, and the Crypto Council for Innovation. They argue that the Senate should build on progress made in the Senate Banking Committee's vote last month before the 2026 midterm election cycle narrows the available calendar.
Negotiations have broken down multiple times this year over two specific disputes: a ban on platforms offering yields on stablecoins and legal protections for developers of decentralized platforms. Lawmakers also want to address ethics and illicit finance issues, which could affect the bill's chances of passing with 60 votes without extended floor debate.
Senator Cynthia Lummis has said she and other legislators are actively working to resolve these issues. The groups warn that continued inaction could push crypto activity offshore, as digital asset markets are global and central to the future of financial infrastructure.
