Crypto Firms Struggle for Access to Powerful AI Models

Crypto firms are struggling to access powerful new AI models that could help strengthen their code against attacks. Despite being some of the biggest players in the industry, many have yet to gain access to these advanced tools.

The lack of access is particularly concerning given the increasing number of sophisticated AI-assisted hacking attempts. In recent months, several major crypto companies have fallen victim to such attacks, with some attributing their failure to defend against them to a lack of access to powerful AI models.

Binance's chief security officer, Jimmy Su, acknowledged that his company has been trying to gain access to these advanced models but so far has not been successful. 'That's one advanced frontier model that hasn't been made available to crypto just yet,' he said.

Meanwhile, some crypto-adjacent companies have gained access to these restricted AI models through Anthropic's gated program, Project Glasswing. However, it is unclear how many crypto companies have been given access to these powerful tools and which specific companies are still waiting.
