Crypto Fundraising Holds Steady Amid Market Breadth Decline
Crypto companies raised $1.36B in venture capital funding across 41 rounds in July, a 6.8% decline from June but a relatively stable total due to one large strategic round.
The largest transaction was Crypto.com's $400M strategic investment, which accounted for nearly a third of the month's VC investment. Excluding this round, the total would have been $960M, down 34.2% from June.
In contrast to the relatively stable total investment figure, the number of completed rounds fell by 28%, and the number of unique institutional investors decreased by 30.7%. This suggests that market breadth weakened in July.
The largest categories for VC investment were exchanges ($543M), payments ($244M), and AI ($232M). Exchanges attracted the most funding, with Crypto.com leading the charge at $400M.
