Crypto Giant DCG Warns Senate of Losing Ground on Regulatory Clarity
Crypto investment firm Digital Currency Group (DCG) has added its weight to the push for the Clarity Act, a bill that aims to set clear regulations for the industry in the United States. In a statement posted on Wednesday, DCG said that the current draft of the bill 'offers exactly the kind of certainty our industry needs to grow and thrive responsibly.'
The Clarity Act has been a long time coming, with lawmakers working on it since last year. However, its passage is not without controversy. Some Democrats have expressed concerns over the current version, citing issues such as the ban on officials and their families from issuing or promoting crypto.
Despite these concerns, DCG argues that the bill is necessary to prevent the US from losing ground to other countries. 'The competitive stakes could not be higher,' the statement read. 'The United States has long been the global center of technological innovation, but we are ceding ground at an alarming pace.'
DCG's warning comes as lawmakers are pushing for a vote on the bill before Congress departs for its August recess.
