Crypto Hack Losses Surge 177% to $210.3M in July

The cryptocurrency space suffered its third-largest monthly loss in 2024, with hack-related losses surging to $210.3 million in July.

This represents a 177% increase from June's total of $75.87 million and highlights the ongoing security challenges facing the digital asset ecosystem.

The largest single event was the Coldcard Wallet compromise, which resulted in approximately $70 million in losses, making it the third-largest incident of the year.

Other notable incidents included breaches on Arbitrum-based protocol AFX and decentralized derivatives platform Ostium, each losing around $24 million. The Bonk memecoin-related system lost $21.2 million, while the Wanchain Bridge suffered a $13 million cross-chain attack.
