Crypto Hacks Exceed $1 Billion in First Half 2026
Crypto hacks have topped $1 billion in losses for the first half of 2026, according to various trackers. TRM Labs reported 207 hacks with approximately $972 million stolen, while CertiK logged 344 incidents resulting in around $1.316 billion lost, with about $1.2 billion net after frozen or recovered funds.
The biggest vector driving losses was wallet compromise, responsible for around $444.5 million across 33 incidents. Two April incidents, KelpDAO and Drift, accounted for nearly 44% of H1 losses on CertiK's tally.
Blockaid's analysis attributed nearly $600 million to DPRK-linked operations, including the same April incidents. Attackers don't need a bull market; they just require liquidity, weak keys, and someone in a hurry.
