Crypto Hacks Jump 67%, New Product Tackles Single-Key Risk
The cryptocurrency sector saw a significant increase in security breaches in August 2026, with 50 major hacks recorded across the industry. This marks a 67% rise from July's 30 incidents, according to Peckshield.
Despite the surge in attacks, the total value of stolen assets fell sharply, down 49.5% from $270 million in July to $136.3 million. A single exploit targeting Tectonicfi accounted for over 54% of the month's losses, with $74 million stolen.
AEREDIUM has launched a new product called AERSeal to address the issue of compromised privileged keys stored on vulnerable endpoints. The product uses threshold signing governed by multiple authorized approvers to eliminate single-key vulnerabilities.
