Crypto Holders Diverge on Rally as Strategy Raises Cash

Strategy, the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin (BTC), used the recent price surge to raise capital without adding to its BTC holdings. The company's decision coincided with one of its largest capital raises, leaving it with a $6.7 billion cash buffer.

The $2.01 billion in net proceeds from selling 18.26 million MSTR shares between Aug. 17 and Aug. 23 were directed towards building a USD Reserve and USD Cash account. The additional liquidity will allow Strategy to respond more quickly to market conditions, including 'dislocations' in Bitcoin and its own securities.

Strategy currently owns 840,447 BTC acquired for about $63.36 billion but did not add to that position during the recent rally. This is despite the asset's price approaching $80,000.
