Crypto Industry Groups Urge Senate to Pass Clarity Act
Top crypto industry groups have sent a letter to Senate leaders urging them to pass the Clarity Act, a bill aimed at establishing a comprehensive federal consumer protection framework for digital asset markets. The bill would regulate crypto and set clear rules for its use in the US.
The letter was signed by the Crypto Council for Innovation, Blockchain Association, and Digital Chamber, which represent major players in the industry. They argue that passing the bill is crucial to establishing durable rules for digital assets that protect consumers, safeguard markets, and ensure innovation can thrive in the United States.
According to the groups, nearly 67 million Americans, about one in four, already own digital assets, and this trend is only growing. The Clarity Act would provide a framework for regulation, addressing concerns around stablecoins and yield payments.
The bill has been met with some resistance from banking chiefs, who have raised concerns over the potential impact on their customers. However, Goldman Sachs chairman David Solomon has recently thrown his support behind the bill.
