Crypto Industry Hit with Wave of Attacks as Robinhood Teases New Product
The cryptocurrency industry experienced significant turmoil in August 2026, with 50 major attack incidents resulting in total losses of approximately $136.3 million. This marks a 67% increase from July's 30 incidents, according to PeckShieldAlert.
The largest loss was attributed to the Tectonic.cro incident, which resulted in around $74 million being stolen, making it the fourth-largest crypto theft of the year so far.
Meanwhile, Robinhood is teasing a new product launch with a video captioned 'Something new is growing', hinting at an imminent release. The company's on-chain ecosystem has seen significant growth in recent weeks, with platforms like Pons experiencing high trading volumes and user-paid fees reaching $82.59 million.
