Crypto Industry Sees Record Losses in Hacking Incidents
The first half of 2026 saw a surge in crypto industry crimes, resulting in a total loss of $1.32 billion across 224 publicly disclosed hacking incidents.
According to Onchain Lens analysts, the largest losses came from compromised access control mechanisms, which accounted for $924 million of the total damage.
The top five affected projects were Kelp DAO ($292 million), Drift Protocol ($280 million), Humanity Protocol ($31 million), Step Finance ($30 million), and Truebit ($26.5 million).
