Crypto Legislation Hits Crucial September Deadline
Crypto market structure legislation, known as the CLARITY Act, is heading towards a critical September deadline for a Senate vote.
Senate Banking Committee Chairman Tim Scott (R-SC) and Sen. Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.) emphasized that the bill's passage is essential to keep digital-asset innovation and investment in the United States.
The CLARITY Act, scheduled for a Senate vote on Sep. 15 at 2 p.m. ET, has grown from fewer than 300 pages to over 600 pages as lawmakers attempt to resolve disagreements and incorporate requested changes.
Scott expressed confidence in the bill's prospects, stating that there is 'a really good shot' at progress in September, as forcing a vote requires lawmakers to take positions rather than continue negotiating indefinitely.
