Crypto Lobbying Efforts Intensify Ahead of Clarity Act Vote
The crypto and banking sectors are intensifying their lobbying efforts ahead of a key procedural vote on the Clarity Act, scheduled for September 15.
Industry groups, including Stand With Crypto and the Blockchain Association, have coordinated nearly 50,000 congressional contacts and local events during the summer recess to build grassroots pressure on lawmakers.
The sector has already spent at least $190 million on U.S. elections, with advocates saying the campaign highlights crypto's growing political influence.
Crypto companies see the legislation as a rare opportunity to secure federal rules while Republicans control the legislative opening.
However, Democrats argue the bill lacks strong enough money-laundering and ethics protections, while some Republicans have raised concerns that it could let digital tokens compete with bank deposits and hurt lending activity.
