Crypto Lobbyist Keeps Hope Alive for Clarity Act Passage Before August Recess
The Digital Asset Market Clarity Act is still in play, according to Kristin Smith, a top crypto lobbyist. Despite Senate Majority Leader John Thune's comments that lawmakers may not be able to pass the bill before the August recess, Smith remains optimistic.
In an interview with Fox Business, Smith expressed confidence in the bill's passage, and her views were echoed by other industry leaders. Alex Thorn, head of research at Galaxy Digital, has lowered the odds of the bill's passage to 30%, but Smith sees a clear path forward.
The National Fraternal Order of Police has also thrown its support behind the latest version of the Clarity Act, citing revised language related to the Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act (BRCA) that addresses its previous concerns. Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon has similarly endorsed the bill, arguing that clearer rules would provide the regulatory certainty needed for financial institutions to participate in blockchain markets.
