Crypto losses have surpassed $1 billion in the first half of 2026, marking the most damaging six-month stretch on record for the industry. According to Blockaid's latest report, this period saw an all-time high for confirmed hacks, driven by large-scale exploits across Ethereum and Solana.

The report highlights that Ethereum suffered roughly $332 million in losses during H1 2026, primarily due to code exploits targeting vulnerabilities in applications built on the network. Blockaid noted that attackers relied on recurring methods, including bugs in bridges and smart contracts, unauthorized access to privileged accounts, and market manipulation techniques.

Solana recorded nearly $326 million in losses, with compromised keys accounting for more than 98% of its losses. The report linked these breaches to North Korea-linked cyber groups, citing signer infrastructure and organizational security as the primary weak points.
