Crypto M&A Activity Surges to $8.6B Across 267 Deals in 2025
Crypto merger and acquisition activity reached an all-time high of $8.6 billion across 267 deals in 2025, according to data from PitchBook cited by the FT. This represents nearly quadruple the $2.17 billion recorded in 2024.
The total deal volume increased by 18% year-over-year, with major exchanges leading consolidation efforts targeting derivatives access, licensing, and institutional infrastructure. Coinbase's acquisition of Deribit for $2.9 billion in May was the largest crypto deal on record, while Kraken purchased retail futures platform NinjaTrader for $1.5 billion.
Ripple (XRP) acquired prime broker Hidden Road for $1.25 billion in April, and public markets reopened to cryptocurrency companies with eleven IPOs raising $14.6 billion globally. Circle's NYSE debut priced its USDC at $31 per share in June, raising $1.1 billion.
