Crypto Market Dives Amid Rising Correlation with Traditional Markets
Crypto prices have taken a hit recently, but it's not because of anything happening within the crypto world itself. Instead, the drop is largely attributed to market forces beyond cryptocurrency.
The recent move has shown a 67% correlation with stocks and a 93% correlation with gold, meaning crypto has been moving in tandem with traditional markets lately. When investors get spooked about interest rates, inflation, or global tensions, crypto tends to fall alongside stocks and gold rather than standing apart.
The $144.63 million in long positions liquidated during the pullback alone added extra selling pressure and made the drop feel bigger than it might have otherwise. The Fear and Greed Index is currently at 34, deep in fear territory, showing that overall mood among crypto traders remains cautious.
