Crypto Market Eyes $3.30T as CLARITY Act Vote Looms
The crypto market is gearing up for a crucial September as the Senate prepares to vote on advancing the CLARITY Act on September 15. The vote could have far-reaching implications for the industry, with Grayscale suggesting that meaningful regulation could move forward regardless of the outcome.
Total crypto market capitalization has already shown significant growth ahead of the vote, climbing from $2.01 trillion in late June to $2.61 trillion by early September. If demand accelerates following a positive market reaction to the vote, the crypto market could push toward $3.30 trillion, which sits around the mid-band of a multi-year ascending wedge.
Grayscale's view suggests that U.S. policymakers are building frameworks for stablecoins, token issuance, tokenized securities, and perpetual futures, potentially benefiting platforms like Kalshi, Coinbase, and Hyperliquid. Meanwhile, the technical setup is getting interesting, with the 50-day and 200-day EMA bands close to forming a golden cross.
While regulation could add fuel to existing momentum, traders should be aware of the risks if the Senate catalyst fails to generate demand, potentially leading to selling pressure and a drop in total crypto market capitalization toward $2.15 trillion or even revisiting $2.01 trillion.
