Crypto Market Holds Steady Amid Low Risk Appetite
The cryptocurrency market is experiencing a period of calm, with most assets trading within a percent of flat. Bitcoin is currently at $64,387.44, up 0.13% over the past 24 hours, but its year-to-date performance is down 26.43%. Ethereum is the strongest performer among the large-cap assets today, with a gain of 1.73% to $1,906.
However, there are some notable exceptions in the top ten by market capitalization. Hyperliquid has doubled in value since January and is currently trading at $55.13, while TRON and UNUS SED LEO have seen gains of 15.26% and 1.90%, respectively.
The performance disparity between assets can be attributed to the varying levels of institutional interest and retail risk appetite. Bitcoin has an institutional bid due to US spot ETFs buying through August, while assets like XRP, Solana, and Dogecoin rely heavily on retail sentiment, which is currently low.
