Crypto Market in Free Fall as Bitcoin Plunges Below $64K Amid Macro Pressure
The cryptocurrency market has taken another hit this week, with Bitcoin dropping below $64,000. The decline is part of a broader trend where crypto has underperformed compared to other major asset classes since January 2025.
Ash Crypto noted that silver has increased by 107%, copper has gained about 66%, and gold has climbed roughly 60% during this period. In contrast, Bitcoin has declined by 35%, Ethereum has fallen about 47%, and altcoins have dropped roughly 57%.
Macroeconomic uncertainty, rising oil prices, and leveraged liquidations are contributing to the decline. The July Consumer Price Index report is scheduled for Wednesday, August 12, which could provide further clarity on inflation expectations.
