Crypto Market on Hold as Traders Await August CPI Report
The cryptocurrency market is in defensive mode as investors await the August Consumer Price Index report. This report has the potential to determine whether Bitcoin will reach $80,000 or slide back towards the low $70,000s.
A hotter-than-expected Producer Price Index reading a day earlier triggered a broad pullback, pushing the total crypto market capitalization down to roughly $2.7 trillion and driving the heaviest single-day outflow from U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs since July.
Bitcoin itself is holding in the $76,800, $77,200 zone, down modestly on the day but nearly 4.7% lower over the past week. Sentiment has cooled from greed to a more cautious middle ground without tipping into fear.
