Crypto Market Sees $1.22 Billion Short Squeeze Amid Price Surge
The crypto market saw a massive short squeeze on Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana as they surged in price. Within one hour, a staggering $1.22 billion was liquidated from short positions across the market, with Bitcoin accounting for $678.11 million of those losses.
The rapid price increase caught sellers off guard, forcing exchanges to forcibly close 111,060 trader positions worth $1.46 billion over the past 24 hours. However, the most significant blow came in that extraordinary hour when $1.22 billion was liquidated from short positions simultaneously.
Solana advisor Jeff Park believes Bitcoin benefits from AI due to governments artificially containing bond market volatility through 'volatility suppression.' This fuels hidden inflation and accelerates fiat currency depreciation, ultimately turning Bitcoin into a primary safety valve for investors.
