Crypto Market Sees Losses, Tokenization Gains Ground
The crypto market experienced significant losses in the first half of 2026. The combined market capitalization of the six largest blockchain networks dropped by $246.5 billion, while DeFi assets fell by $43.4 billion.
This decline was partly offset by growth in tokenized stocks, real-world assets, and prediction markets. Within seven weeks of their launch, Binance's tokenized bStocks instruments reached a market capitalization of over $500 million.
The total value of tokenized real-world assets rose to approximately $34 billion in July 2026. This growth highlights the increasing popularity of tokenization as an alternative to traditional financial instruments.
