Crypto Market Sees Sharp Decline as Big Players Retrench
In a week's time, three prominent players in the crypto market have retreated from their positions, signaling a sharp decline in the industry. Strategy, a company that has been selling Bitcoin (BTC) for two consecutive weeks, recently offloaded 1,690 BTC at an average price of $64,262, resulting in a total loss of around $15%. The proceeds were used to buy back its own preferred shares that had fallen below par.
Trump Media, which invested over $1.1 billion in Bitcoin last year when the price was near its all-time high, has now suffered a loss of nearly $500 million. The company's revenue for the same quarter was just $1.7 million, and management has announced plans to scale back its crypto operations.
Grayscale withdrew the registration filings for three spot ETFs - Cardano (ADA), Polkadot (DOT), and Hedera (HBAR) - in a span of 190 seconds, indicating a decline in institutional enthusiasm for altcoins. The company explicitly noted that the product had not become effective and no securities had been sold.
